General Info
Our Sunday House League is a coed program for kids grade 2-12 that is designed to give athletes an opportunity to develop their volleyball skills and play competitive games as part of a team, without having to go through the stress of tryouts.
Each Sunday is a 90 minute session with a skill development portion, followed by a game play portion. A normal volleyball team will take anywhere from 12-14 players, but at VVL we keep the teams from 8-10 players to ensure that everyone gets ample playing time.

Program Structure
JR Division (Grade 5 and Under)
In our Junior division we have 50-60 minutes of skill development followed by 15-20 minutes of modified games, such as "Spike ball". Spike ball is a 2 v 2 game on 1/3 of the court. This way, each court still has 12 players on it, but there are 3 different games going on at once, which means far more ball touches for each player. The game is played over a low net to give the players the opportunity to spike the ball. The final 15-20 minutes is spent playing 6 v 6 "Triple ball". In Triple Ball, one team serves into the court, then a "free ball" is tossed to each side by the coach. The free ball is a very easy ball tossed right to a player so that a rally can ensue. Each ball is worth one point.
In our Jr. division, we use "volley lite" balls. These balls are made specially for younger ages and are lighter in weight so the players have an easier time controlling the ball and serving it over the net.
INT Division (Grade 6-8)
In our INT and SR division we believe in the importance of getting kids ready for their school team, and club team tryouts. Intermediates will do 45 minutes of skill development followed by 45 minutes of game play where each team will play 2 matches. We believe it is important to learn the skills of the game, but also get the opportunity to put them into game play situations. In our INT division our game play is modified and we play “Triple ball”, which is the version of volleyball that school and club teams play at that age and is recommended by Volleyball Canada. Triple Ball has a serve go into the court, then a “free ball” toss to each side. The free ball is a very easy ball tossed right to a player so that a rally can ensue. Each ball is worth one point.
SR Division (Grade 8-12)
Our SR division will do 40 minutes of skill development followed by 50 minutes of game play where each team will play 2 matches. In our SR division we play “double ball”. This is a version of volleyball where on an ace or a missed serve, a “free ball” is tossed in. This give the opportunity for each ball to start with a rally. Every ball is worth one point.
